Tips For Your Facebook Business Page
The following tips are designed so that you can get the most out of your Facebook Business Page. I will be developing the blog, adding additional information and revising the content from time-to-time.
Step 1 Create a Business Page NOT a Personal Profile!
This is quite a common mistake and organisations create a personal profile instead of a business page. It's a bad idea and goes against Facebook's terms and conditions. If you have created a Personal Profile Pages don't despair it can be converted to a Business Page. Those nice folk at Facebook have created simple guides to follow and tto create a Business Page just follow this link to Create a Facebook Business Page.
Step 2 Claim A Facebook Vanity URL
Once you have setup your Facebook Business Page you will be assigned a URL like
ummmh! not very exciting is it? However, once you have 25 likes you can claim your own URL like
now that is much better!
Here is a link on how to Claim a Facebook Vanity URL.
Step 3 Create A Facebook Cover Image
Your cover image should measure 851 pixels x 315 pixels and be less than 100 kilobytes. I would recommend using Photoshop where you can layer your image and then use the "File" > "Save For Web and Devices" option where the image will be optimised. There is a lot of scope in what you can do with your Facebook Cover - you may decide to have a photograph, or text, or a combination of both. Experiment and don't be afraid to change your cover image from time-to-time, maybe triggered by an event or special promotion. Here are some that I have been tinkering around with. Make sure when you have uploaded your image that you compare them on all devices - PC, tablet and mobile phone
Step 4 Create Your Profile Image
Select an appropriate profile image for your business. This could be your company logo or a photograph of yourself if. Your profile image will be shown at the top of your Facebook Page and is also the thumbnail image that gets displayed next to all your Facebook Page posts.
The profile image should measure 180 pixels x 180 pixels. Again I would recommend the use of Photoshop or Illustrator when working with your image.
Step 5 Complete the "About Section"
The "About" section is probably one of the first places people will look when viewing your Page.
A preview of it is located on the left-hand side of your page beneath your profile picture, and people can also navigate to the full section by clicking on the "About" tab at the top of your page.
Be sure to optimise the preview section on the left side of your page with comprehensive review of what your business is about.
Step 5 Be Responsive to Messages
By responding quickly to messages on Facebook you will earn a "Very Responsive to Messages" badge!
Step 6 Make Sure Your Images are the right size.
Before posting you should make sure your images are the correct size so a little bit of cropping is worth while.
Cover Image - 851 pixels x 315 pixels
Profile Image - 180 pixels x 180 pixels
Shared Photo - 1200 pixels x 630 pixels
Highlighted Image - 1200 pixels x 717 pixels
